About
Nathalie May Needle Arts, Columbia
We have been around a long time. Our needlework background began in 1933 with the construction of doll clothes and rugs, continued with knitting for the Red Cross during the second World War and through the argyle sock craze in 1947. Later came teaching, retail sales, judging and design. As an active member, we have been associated with the Embroiderers Guild of America, Millwood Chapter in Columbia and its many learning opportunities for 35 years. During this span of years we have participated in many historically notable projects, including needlework for the Governors Mansion of South Carolina, Church kneelers for Epworth United Methodist Church in Norfolk, Virginia, historical exhibits for Shandon United Methodist Church in Columbia, judging in the South Carolina State Fair, demonstrations at the "Hands On 18th Century Exhibition" of the historical Robert Mills House in Columbia and the design of numerous personal projects and experience in retail since 1968.
